The Creative X MRD Home
Styled with Intention — A Conversation with a Sydney Property Stylist
What first drew you to MRD Home, and what made you keep coming back?
Honestly, the aesthetic just made sense for the kind of spaces we create. From the first time I came across MRD Home, the pieces felt considered — not trend-chasing, just genuinely well-designed. We kept coming back because the quality matched the look, and the uniqueness of each piece kept surprising us.
How does MRD Home fit into the projects you style — what kind of spaces does it work best in?
We work predominantly in residential styling across Sydney, so we need pieces that feel like a home, not a showroom. MRD Home sits really naturally in that space. The scale is right, the finishes are versatile, and nothing feels overdone. It works beautifully in everything from brand new builds to more character-driven properties.
As a stylist, what matters most to you when choosing a furniture and décor supplier — and how does MRD Home deliver on that?
Reliability and aesthetic consistency, without a doubt. I need to trust that what I'm specifying will arrive looking the way it did in the photo, and that the supplier relationship is easy to manage. MRD Home ticks both — the product quality is consistent, and working with the Florabelle team is always very attentive.
What's the one MRD Home piece you find yourself specifying again and again, and why?
The Jude 3 Seater Sofa in brown. It's soft and welcoming without being casual, and the brown reads as warm and elevated at the same time. It anchors a living room without overpowering it, which is exactly what you need in a staged home. Agents love it and buyers respond to it every time.
How has having access to in-stock, ready-to-ship product changed the way you plan and execute your projects?
It's everything in this industry. Styling timelines are tight — you're often working around agent schedules — so the ability to pull from in-stock product means we're not crossing our fingers on lead times. It gives us real confidence when we're quoting and planning a job.
What do your clients say when they see MRD Home pieces styled in their space?
The reaction is usually immediate. We often get comments about how liveable it feels, which is the goal. You want buyers to walk in and picture themselves there, and MRD Home pieces help create that feeling.
How would you describe MRD Home's aesthetic to another stylist who hasn't worked with it yet?
Contemporary but grounded. It doesn't try too hard, which is actually quite rare. The pieces have a quiet confidence to them — clean lines, considered proportions, tones that layer well together. If you work in the premium residential space and you want furniture that elevates without screaming, MRD Home is worth knowing.
What does working with Florabelle Living Group feel like from a trade perspective — what makes it easy to do business with you?
It's one of the smoother supplier relationships we have. The trade process is clear, the stock levels are reliable, and the team is always easy to communicate with. When you're running multiple installs across a week, the last thing you need is slow communication or delayed deliveries — Florabelle just doesn't have that.
Has there been a project where MRD Home was the piece that pulled everything together?
A Chifley duplex comes to mind — a brand new build, so everything was clean and fresh but completely empty. Those spaces can feel cold if you don't get the furniture selection right. We brought in the Jude sofa as the centrepiece of the living area and built the whole room around it. The warmth of that brown against the new finishes immediately made the space feel like somewhere you'd actually want to live.
What would you say to another stylist who is thinking about working with MRD Home for the first time?
We highly recommend MRD, without hesitation. The range is more versatile than you might expect, and the quality really does speak for itself once you see it in a space. Working with Florabelle is easy and reliable, which matters just as much as the product. It's become a go-to for us — and I can see why it would for anyone working in the premium residential space.
